A Is For Acknowledgment

Everyday we get up, and we just function, we go to work, home, school, or the grocery store. And, sometimes we take notice to others outside our purview. We say “Hello,” or How are you today?” And, that person may respond with ”Hi,” or “I’m fine.” Then we go about our day. However, how often do you really listen and acknowledge what that person is actually saying? And, how they say it? In fact do you even acknowledge yourself. Some children are very expressive on how they are feeling. My goddaughter has told me a number of times, that she is “bright as star bright ”, or she feels like a “dandelion.” I translate these as she telling me she very happy or in a good mood. Of course as, adults, we don’t often express ourselves in such a manner around strangers, or even the closes of friends. It often can be a bit embarrassing for the individual to lower the guard, to allow other people to get close to them. True fact, if you want growth, and better connections, be it in work or perso...

Society, Policy, Structure, and Self

All my life I have been called an old soul or a child of nature. In elementary my friends were in middle school, middle school, they were in high school, and finally high school, they were in college. I was quick to grow up, not because, my environment was horrible and terrible, just because I wish to experience a much life as I can. So I could be prepared for the coming waves.  Some people would say I chose a path, that was not the easiest. However, all I chose was to be me. To some groups of society, as a tall black man, I should be watched, or something to fear. In other circles, I should act as a man should, and not flaunt my feminine side, and then some circles would rather I burn for my beliefs. I am a gay man, a man of many designs, a magician who proudly practices his art. I try to accept all for who they are, for as long as whom they are don’t oppress or hurt others.  It is my policy the one should never stop growing, however, in some aspect of society we have d...

The Next Day

The next day, oh what wonders it will bring. The next day, full of unknowns and adventures just waiting for me to find them. The next day, I will be strong, and courageous and fight for what I believe in. The next day, I will begin that new training routine to lose that weight. The next day......................Wait!!! Why not today? People tend to wait for a precise moment to start making changes. The next day, the new year, birthdays, a death, or a birth. The first thought in that moment is to change. So why wait a second longer. You already took one step, why not take the next step, and start planning the battlefield. As the saying goes, “Tomorrow is not Promised to Anyone.” I look around a see people with such potential, young or mature, the age doesn’t matter. If you see the potential of what could be, just take a step, no matter how small. No matter if you think impossible, because for that brief moment you thought it could be, before the fear set in. So start right now, Tod...

STOP! And Revamp

A new year, which means some of you will set new goals, and ideals you would like to work on. Some goals will be the same, if not similar ones from the last year. So instead of doing the continuous cycle of start, give up, and then restart. Let’s stop! 2020 gave us many lessons, especially how to go about managing our time better. When we wish to start anew, we see so many things and develop that mantra “we can do better,” however, what really happens is that we overload ourselves. So how about you comb through the old list, before writing a new one, and pick one item from it. I know it may not seem like a lot, but that one new avenue you going to be exploring, something you will be carving out time for in your everyday routine. It's something new, something you have to learn and build upon, and something that will take time. That right I said it time, and we never truly know how much, until we dive into the unknown.
